EDUCATION

Serving Colorado, the Community, and Our Graduates

Provide a vehicle for a stronger higher education presence in Western Colorado
Begin a statewide dialogue on how Colorado can expand access to higher education
Implement collaborations between higher ed institutions across the state

Our Goals:
  • Develop collaborative service learning, outreach, and research experiences for undergraduates in the Four-Corners area of Colorado that build on the newly formed San Juan Collaboratory
  • Develop new methods of education guided by the local communities of SW Colorado
  • Provide courses/experiences specifically developed for these communities
  • Create educational opportunities for students to work/learn in a problem-oriented research environment and develop new service learning opportunities for CU Boulder and Fort Lewis College (FLC) undergraduates
  • Create a pipeline for low income and unrepresented Colorado students from local high schools to undergraduate and graduate study at UCB with multi-institution support and coordination

Coming soon:
  • Plans for a cross-institution short course focused on research methodologies for studies of regional economic and environmental change during Summer 2008
  • Internships for undergraduate students working in the four corners region
